Oaklash hosts a weekend-long festival of drag and other queer performance that takes place annually in Oakland, California.

Founded by Beatrix LaHaine and Mama Celeste in 2018, Oaklash has featured hundreds of queer performers from the Bay Area and all around the world.

Oaklash is dedicated to building new and ever-expanding stages to showcase & elevate Bay Area queer talent. Our programming aims to create safe and accessible environments that celebrate the queer community, especially queer and trans people of color. Our organization was created to showcase performances that are boundary pushing, provocative, and unique to the sensibility of the Bay Area. We aim to stay true to the history of Oakland as a home to creative renaissance rooted in diversity. We hope that by amplifying and supporting the queer art community in the Bay Area, we can emphasize the need for investment in the arts in the face of systemic racism, growing economic disparities, and the Bay Area housing crisis.

We are gathering the tribes together again, for a special late summer edition of the How Weird Street Faire. Located in the reemerging heart of downtown San Francisco, there will be a sensational spectacle that will rival the days of old. Join people in colorful costumes, who have come together to celebrate peace, creativity, and weirdness.

There will be a lot going on! With eight stages of world-class electronic music, spectacular performances, fantastic foods, unique vendors, cannabis experience, visionary art, and inspiring creativity.

Art Alley will be overflowing with sensational delights this year, in an expanded location on Minna Street. There will be live painting and interactive art and exhibited artwork. Plus there will be local art and craft vendors.

I am excited to be back at City Art Gallery showing a few original scratchboards. I plan to have new work on display. I hope you can join me at the reception to view my art as well as the work of so many other amazing, local artists.

Every third Sunday mark your galendars for shopping joy therapy in San Francisco’s iconic Castro neighborhood which bursts to the brim from noon-6p with the fabulous Castro Art Mart featuring dozens and dozens of local artists taking over the sidewalks infusing creative joy and queer spirits to uplift our lives. The Walgreens alley will be transformed into a daytime art gallery & queer club with DJ dancing and epic dragster performances to give you life! 

Interspersed throughout the sidewalk artists will be delightful musicians delivering aural treats to entertain and get your shopping juices flowing. Tying everything together will be a club card available a week prior with a mini map and QR link to our website with details of the entertainment, artists, as well as a listing of events and opportunities at all the businesses including special sales & activities on that day.

Please use mass transit—The Castro is walkable and a major MUNI hub.

With the dawning of Spring we honor Ēostre (Austrō(n))—the goddess of spring and fertility—and her sacred symbol, the bunny, by holding our Easter EggStravaganza: A Castrorific Block Party & the 1st Annual Bunny Convention for EggCited kittens (baby bunnies) and adults alike. Nature’s divine providence to regenerate and create—rebirth & renewal marks the moving into light from the darkness of winter and we celebrate with flair, art & costumes!

Feast on over thirty EggStreme artist booths for your art shopping while the Kitten Zone (noon-3p) entertains the little hoppers with Drag Story Time, Easter Egg / Passport Bunny Hop & our kids’ Easter costume contest. Dogs are welcome too! They can enter into the pet’s costume contest! Adults check in at noon and go on your own Passport Bunny Hop quest to win an Easter shot glass & vie for thousand$$$ in prizes. Enjoy your own costume contest, DJ/dancing all day, and EggCellent dragsters of delight.

Shop the SF Botanical gift market this holiday season. Find a curated selection of sustainable, local and fair trade gifts, plant societies and nonprofit organizations alongside exclusive Gardens of Golden Gate Park merchandise, books and art. The market will host free craft activities, a photo booth, plant sale and gift wrapping station. Proceeds from the show benefit the Gardens of Golden Gate Park. Garden members can shop one hour early.

NightLife is a weekly event where visitors ages 21 and older can enjoy music, science, entertainment, and cocktails while experiencing the Academy’s world-class exhibits with friends. Each weekly installment features something new and different. San Francisco Bazaar LLC will be curating handmade vendors at this event alongside other museum programming.

Welcome to the Erie Bazaar! Public Works’ monthly FREE space showcasing local artists, musicians, and more!

Erie Bazaar is a free monthly public pop-up marketplace that showcases Bay Area creators, creatives, artists, and musicians. We’ll be putting the spotlight on those that help make this city so special, and continuing our pursuit to support the arts. The event will feature over 20 local vendors outside on the patio and inside the main room, and we will be serving up drinks and our resident DJs will be playing some tunes. There will also be raffle prizes and other fun surprises! All are welcome! Please note this event is 21+.
